A strong, independent, fun loving grandma who believes we should live our BEST lives –in every season of life.
For years I believed that I was living my life the way I wanted to be, and by being independent it meant that I had a strong sense of self. You know-working, looking after the house and family, volunteering, and taking the occasional vacation. Isn't life supposed to be busy and stressful? The tiredness, and the aches and pains in my body were expected as that is just what happens when you are always busy and are get older. My friends and my doctor confirmed my belief. Everyone made jokes about getting older and justified minor issues with "age" as the cause.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew something was not quite right with the way that I was living. I had taken a course on the Psychology of Adults and knew that many of my issues were NOT due to aging - but byproducts of not taking care of myself. It wasn't until I was over 50 that I realized that I was really good at the "roles" that I had, and while life wasn't awful, I didn't take care of myself. For that matter, I didn't even know HOW to take care of myself. .
I started by making changes to live a cleaner lifestyle - take care of my body naturally. I started using Young Living products – natural alternatives that worked! I gradually removed the toxic chemicals in our home (cleaners, make up, bath products, etc). Then I leaned up my diet – choosing healthy, whole foods that were right for me. I dropped the extra weight, my skin cleared up and I had more energy than before. I looked and felt younger than I did 10 years previously – confirming my belief that age is just a number.
Getting to know myself has been an incredible journey. All I had to do was be willing to learn and make changes - one step at a time. I have learned to listen to my intuition, set healthy boundaries, and live a life where I love myself enough to eat well, exercise, give myself grace, and do everything to have a healthy relationship with "me".
The more I learned, the more I became aware that many women are just like I was - just "living day to day" and not "thriving". The passion to help other women, is what prompted me to become a Life & Health Coach, so that I can empower women to reconnect with their inner selves and create a life that they want to live.
